10 Year Honest Workmanship Warranty
We stand behind the quality of the work we do, for a decade.
In simple terms
If Environmental Energy Services supplies, installs and commissions your renewable energy system, we stand behind the quality of that work for 10 years. Once the system has been installed and commissioned properly, in line with manufacturer specs and industry standards, our workmanship warranty does not extend to issues caused by tampering, changed settings, third-party interference or unrelated electrical faults.
1. Our commitment
At Environmental Energy Services, we stand behind the quality of the work we do. Our 10 Year Honest Workmanship Warranty applies to the installation and commissioning work we carry out on the renewable energy systems we supply. This includes solar, battery and associated system components provided by Environmental Energy Services as part of our complete package.
We do not just supply products. We research, design, supply, install and commission complete smart energy systems. This workmanship warranty is part of our commitment to doing that work properly, transparently and to the standards required for our industry.
2. What this warranty means
A workmanship warranty covers the quality of the installation and commissioning work completed by the installer. For Environmental Energy Services, this means we warrant that the systems we supply, install and commission will be installed and commissioned:
- with due care and skill;
- in accordance with manufacturer specifications;
- in accordance with applicable industry standards and electrical requirements; and
- in line with the agreed scope of works.
This warranty is about the quality and compliance of our work. It is separate from any manufacturer's warranty or installation manuals that apply to the products themselves.
3. What is included
This workmanship warranty applies where Environmental Energy Services has provided the complete package, including supply, installation and commissioning of the renewable energy system. This includes systems that we have:
- supplied;
- installed; and
- commissioned.
Where we have delivered and commissioned the system correctly, that installation is included within our 10 Year Honest Workmanship Warranty.
4. Standards we work to
Environmental Energy Services is responsible for supplying, installing and commissioning all renewable energy systems provided by us so they meet the standards and requirements that apply to our work. This includes compliance with applicable:
- AS/NZS 4777 standards;
- CEC standards and requirements;
- SAA standards and requirements;
- NETCC standards and requirements;
- electrical codes of conduct; and
- other relevant AS/NZS industry standards and legal requirements.
We also install and commission our systems in accordance with the relevant manufacturer specifications. That is an essential part of proper workmanship in the solar and battery industry.
5. Relationship to solar retailer obligations
This policy is intended to reflect the expectations placed on solar retailers under the Clean Energy Council Solar Retailer Code of Conduct in relation to workmanship warranties, including the need to clearly explain what a workmanship warranty does and does not cover.
In practical terms, our workmanship warranty covers defects in the installation or commissioning work completed by Environmental Energy Services. It does not operate as a blanket warranty for every future issue that may arise, regardless of cause.
6. What our workmanship warranty covers
Subject to the terms of the customer's contract and any applicable law, our 10 Year Honest Workmanship Warranty covers defects that arise because Environmental Energy Services did not originally supply, install or commission the system correctly. Examples may include:
- installation defects in components supplied and installed by us;
- commissioning defects;
- work not completed in accordance with manufacturer specifications;
- work not completed in accordance with applicable standards or electrical requirements; and
- defects directly caused by our workmanship within the original scope of works.
Where a defect is covered, Environmental Energy Services will assess the issue and, where appropriate, rectify the workmanship defect.
7. What this warranty does not cover
Once Environmental Energy Services has supplied, installed and commissioned the renewable energy system in accordance with the required standards, codes and manufacturer specifications, our workmanship warranty does not cover issues that fall outside that original installation and commissioning scope. This includes, without limitation:
- product faults or manufacturer defects;
- customer misuse or neglect;
- damage caused by accidents, weather events, pests, vandalism or third parties;
- normal wear and tear;
- issues caused by internet, Wi-Fi, modem, router, software platform or third-party monitoring services;
- electrical issues unrelated to the renewable energy construction work completed by Environmental Energy Services;
- changes made by other contractors or third parties after handover; and
- customer changes to settings, configuration, software or hardware after the system has been correctly commissioned.
8. Customer tampering or changes after handover
Our workmanship warranty only applies to systems that remain in the condition in which they were originally installed and commissioned by Environmental Energy Services, subject to normal operation and use.
If a client tampers with, changes or interferes with software, hardware or settings that were previously installed and commissioned correctly, any resulting issue falls outside the scope of this workmanship warranty. This includes things such as:
- changing inverter settings;
- changing battery settings;
- changing export limits or operating modes;
- altering communications or monitoring setup;
- disconnecting or reconnecting components; or
- allowing another party to modify the system without our approval.
If we are asked to attend and fix issues caused by those actions, that work will be treated as a chargeable service call, not warranty work.
9. Site attendance and non-warranty service fees
If Environmental Energy Services is requested to attend site for an issue that is later found to be outside the scope of our workmanship warranty, the following charges will apply:
These charges apply where:
- the issue has been caused by customer tampering or changed settings;
- the issue is caused by third-party interference or non-warranty factors;
- the problem is not a direct result of the renewable energy construction activities completed by Environmental Energy Services; or
- a reported electrical issue is found to have been incorrectly identified and is not related to our workmanship.
This site attendance fee also applies where we attend site and determine there is no fault in Environmental Energy Services' original installation or commissioning work.
10. False fault reports and unrelated electrical issues
We are always happy to assess reported issues. However, our workmanship warranty is limited to defects in the work completed by Environmental Energy Services. If a site visit shows that the reported problem is:
- unrelated to our solar, battery or renewable energy installation work; or
- not caused by any defect in our workmanship,
the visit will be treated as a non-warranty service attendance and the fees above will apply.
11. Manufacturer warranties and statutory rights
This workmanship warranty is separate from any manufacturer warranty that applies to the products supplied as part of the system. It also operates alongside any rights the customer may have under Australian consumer protection law, including the Australian Consumer Law, where applicable.
Nothing in this policy is intended to exclude or limit any right or remedy that cannot be excluded under law.
12. Summary
In simple terms, our promise is this: if Environmental Energy Services supplies, installs and commissions your renewable energy system, we stand behind the quality of that work for 10 years.
That means we are responsible for making sure the system is installed and commissioned correctly, in accordance with manufacturer specifications, AS/NZS 4777 requirements, CEC requirements, SAA requirements, NETCC requirements, relevant electrical codes of conduct and other applicable industry standards.
Once that work has been completed properly, our workmanship warranty does not extend to issues caused by tampering, changed settings, third-party interference, unrelated electrical faults or matters outside our original scope of works. Where we are asked to attend non-warranty issues, a $150 + GST site attendance fee will apply, plus $100 per hour + GST for rectification work.
13. Policy note
This policy is a general statement of Environmental Energy Services' 10 Year Honest Workmanship Warranty and should be read together with the customer's proposal, contract, scope of works, handover documents and any applicable manufacturer documentation. Where there is any inconsistency, the signed contract and applicable law will prevail.
